This plaque features the Shotokan tiger (the tora no maki) etched by hand on semi-transparent blue and white glass. The etching is then highlighted with gold making it stand out crisply against the smooth glass.
Featuring the design created by one of Funakoshi's students, Hoan Kusugi, the plaque will have special meaning to students of Shotokan karate. The tiger exemplifies strength, power, and tenacity, all characteristics valued by martial artists.
The plaque comes with a clear acrylic stand subtle enough to not detract from art piece. The stand allows the light to play through the glass, emphasizing the swirls of blue and white behind the design. The glass art piece measures approximately 4" in diameter and is almost 1/4" thick and comes in a silver presentation box ready for gift giving.
